  • Trailblazer - Exploring Ave's world - Birds of Jharkhand

Birds have long been a love of nature enthusiasts.Avifauna has drawn attention of both – the scientists,naturalists- both foresters and nonforesters alike-in understanding their habit, especially the wetlands, habitat, endemism or migratory nature, threat to the species, their population etc., and consequent impact upon ecology and the planet at large. Subjects like climate change can conveniently use the study of bird in telling the children about threatsto the nature due to anthropogenic causes.A thorough documentation of the rich avian biodiversity in different geographical units using skills and knowledge of field level experts shall go a long way in bringing nature’s bounty and uniqueness closer to the society. In the stateof Jharkhand many efforts have been madeto document avian diversity but a comprehensive survey or compilation has still remained unending quest; the love for birds never die, nonetheless an updationis always needed for any scientific theorization particularly because of the migratory nature of birds and in the context of the climatic changes. The society of Illustrious Veterans and Naturalists-SILVAN has tasked upon itself to delve into the matter of bringing out a technically sound handbook which can meet the needs of schools, colleges, scientists, the governments as well as for general reading.
